College Essay
Why would you want me as a student? Well…I have a lot to offer. I am the one who sees something she wants, and does everything in her nature to get it. Sometimes I feel as if I’ma bird. A tropical bird trapped in a cage of cold metal bars. I’m trying to escape, but the bitter ice cold bars are holding me back. I need to fly free, far away from this place that everyone seems to enjoy, except me. I need to go…somewhere warm & tropical. Because like I said, I’ma tropical bird. I’m bottled up with all this pain & agony. I don’t belong here. I don’t deserve to be like this. I should be flying free in a warm bright place with all the other birds. Rio sounds like the right place! (lol) When I get that chance to explore and meet people, try new things & discover the world, that’ll be the day I’m free. Someday I wanna meet my own bird, a best friend I could call my own & love forever. Our love will be the best kind of love. The kind of love where tears are shed from the happy moments we spend together. The kind of love where no matter what happens, we will always be together, flying free. Like in the words of Nicolas Sparks “If your a bird, I’m a bird.” (The Notebook)
Now a little bit about my family & I. I realize the first part of this essay might’ve sounded a little crazy, but I’m hoping it’s the type someone could read & understand me & who I am. I am a fun-loving & outgoing person. I make friends real easily, and do my best to keep them. If they respect me, I will respect them back, simple as that. I like to believe I’m a funny person. I don’t tell many jokes, but I try to be funny just by being me. I am preferably 4”10, and I will most likely not grow anytime soon. I am Italian and proud!!! I am especially jealous of my parents for one thing. They went to Italy a few years ago without me, and they knew that was my dream. That’s one place I would love to visit in the world first, because it’s one of the most romantice & beautiful places on the planet! (Plus I heard the food is to die for…lol) My family is my life. Even though I can’t stand to be around them sometimes, they are still my number 1 priority. I have two brothers & one sister. Lorenzo is 11, turning 12 in a few weeks, Luca is 10 & Isabella is 8. My family has the most Italian names ever! Haha. Even the dog has an Italian name, Masimo. They drive me crazy, but I will always look up to them & love them.
One of my absolute favorite things to do all day, everyday is sing. Singing is like my own language. No matter where I am, I’m always singing. In the shower, at school, may’be even in my sleep lol. I sing just about everything I hear or listen to. One of my favorite genres to sing is Jazz, such as Amy Winehouse, Adele, or Jane Monheit. I’m also very vintage, so I sing songs from Musicals, such as The Music Man, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Guys and Dolls, Annie Get Your Gun, Meet Me In St. Louis, Annie, stuff like that. Ever since I…came out the womb lol, my dad put me in front of a TV to watch old black & white movies. I wasn’t like any NORMAL child who would watch Barney everyday (I had my childhood shows too don’t get me wrong), but I enjoyed watching old classic movies so much. I watched old black & white shows too, such as The Munsters, Beverly Hillbillies, I Dream of Jeannie, and my ALL TIME FAVORITE I Love Lucy. I look up to Lucille Ball so much. To me she was one of the best female comediennes and actresses. I was also introduced to old music, such as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin, Nat King Cole, etc. A few years ago my dad bought a jukebox from Pennsylvania, so now I hear the music everywhere in the house. People always say to me, “Wow, it’s surprising to see a girl your age, who enjoys the classics so much.” And I say, “No, not really. I think more people should be like this. Afterall this is the real music that people should listen to & these are the real movies that people should be watching.” I enjoy acting as well. I wanna minor in musical theater especially, because it involves singing & acting , and I enjoy doing that. I’ve been taking acting since 9th grade, and over the years my skills have improved. I’ve been in all together 5 shows (on stage & behind stage).
My FASEM class from my senior year at Schenectady High School, has been a thrill to be in. I learned so many new ways to write stories and poetry in that class, and it made me a stronger person. Before that class, I would struggle to write my own stories & poems, but it’s different now, because each and every single person in that class has inspired me to create something in a different way. One of my goals in the future is that I hope to be inspired by everyday life & the people in it, so it can make me a better person than I already am.
